Moisturizer Or Sunscreen: Which Should You Use First?
When it comes to daily skincare, even though there are many steps like cleanser, toner, moisturizer, sunscreen, serum, and a lot more. The two main products that we use are moisturizers and sunscreen. Treating the skin is needed but protecting and maintaining the skin is mandatory. So, using these two products play a vital role in protecting and maintaining your skin better and maintaining the skin younger. Let’s dig in to know the importance of using sunscreen and moisturizer.
Moisturiser:
The main role of the moisturizer is to hydrate and moisturize the skin. We all have different skin types like dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin, combinational skin, acne-prone skin, and many more. Choosing the right facial moisturizers online based on your skin plays an important role in maintaining the skin better.
If you have dry skin, using a cream-based product will work. If you have an oily skin type, a gel-based product will work. When you have combinational or acne-prone skin, choose products only that will suit your skin. Always do a patch test if you are using or incorporating any new product in your skincare routine.
Sunscreen:
We all know how important it is to add sunscreen to your skin and body. Even though there are different SPF factors, choosing SPF 40 to SPF 50 would be perfect for Indian skin tone. The best sunscreen is helpful in protecting our skin from sun tan, and even from harsh rays that are emitted from the sun which could even invite sun cancer.
There are different types of sunscreen like cream-based and gel-based. Choose the right product based on your skin type to avoid unnecessary white caste and oil secretion in the skin. Always use a three-finger rule, because only then the protection will work. Also, don’t miss your neck area. Whatever you put in your face, should be included in your neck too.
You can use either physical sunscreens or chemical sunscreens. Physical sunscreen also called mineral sunscreen is quite heavy in texture, Ingredients like Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide will be incorporated in them. They act as a protector by sending away the harsh rays which are trying to enter our skin. Chemical sunscreens will get the rays and convert them into heat energy which can be dissipated into the skin. They are water-resistant and can be easily absorbed into the skin.
Moisturizer or Sunscreen:
Both of them are equally important in maintaining your skin for being better. So, add them both to your skincare for young and youthful skin. If you are confused about which to come first, it is for sure moisturizer. This is a base cream or gel which is initially applied to add hydration to the skin which is dried due to soaps and face washes. Using a moisturizer acts as a hydrator and creates a smooth base for your skin. It is normal for our skin to get dried, which is why using moisturizers will help in hydrating them. Hydration or Moisturization helps in preventing your skin from dryness and wrinkles that are caused.
Sunscreen should always be the last step of your skincare routine. It helps in protecting your skin from the outside rays that are being emitted from the sun. Also, now the sun’s rays in the morning and evening are so good, which will help in enhancing the Vitamin D in your body. There are even moisturizers available with SPF present in them. But since there will be only a low percentage like SPF 15 to SPF 20, it is always better to go with separate SPF in your skincare.
